10/24/2010 - KABUL, Afghanistan -- KABUL, Afghanistan -- The following personnel were selected as the quarterly award winners for the third quarter:

Junior Enlisted of the Quarter:
PFC Richard C. Dean - PeH Assistant Security Forces Training Course Advisor - Kabul

LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Advised 64 Afghan Air Force pipeline students and implemented a student physical training program which is now Afghan NCO led and sustained
· Oversaw $38K Security Forces logistical assets; accounts and disseminates essential student training equipment which is vital to realistic training
· Prepared team leader curriculum, printed and organized materials for the curriculum and advised four Afghan Air Force non-commissioned officers to train 25 future leaders

NCO of the Quarter:
SSgt Jason Taylor - 3D173/ NCOIC Satellite communications - Shindand

LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Supervised a four member shop which he directed 75 preventative maintenance inspections and provided impeccable 99.9% up-time rating
· Spearheaded Edge City internet which provided an alternate internet option and improved the morale services for 2,000 personnel
· Guided Air Force and Army Satellite communication planning by providing expertise and was pivotal in engineering/future link secure

Senior NCO of the Quarter:
MSgt/Chris R. Edgerton - 3P0X1/Senior Enlisted Security Forces Advisor - Kandahar

LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· CC's #1 pick! 738 AEAG 1st Sgt; key advisor on Quality of Life issues--good order/discipline maintained for 70 personnel
· Led 738 AEAG accountability during twelve rocket attacks and one ground attack and he ensured the safety of 70 personal and secured $2.5M compound
· Directed 451 AEW Change of Command/USAF B-day security and orchestrated the search and flow of 100+ tribal elders and there were zero incidents

Company Grade Officer of the Quarter:
1LT Ryan M Besch - Z17D3B / Flt Commander, Plans and Programs - Herat

LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Oversaw $2M GV install; stood up 1st-ever emergency notification sys--raised Forward Operating Base safety and security standards by 20%
· Built/installed new repeater radio network; increased FOB C2 coverage by 250%--resolved 11-month deficiency
· Spearheaded base master communication plan; connected 20 areas FOB-wide--enhanced comms/base ops by over 50%

Field Grade Officer of the Quarter:
Maj John F. Baer - X46F3/Flight Nurse Advisor - Kandahar

LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Advised Afghan medics during daily sick call; intro six new pieces of Aeromedical Evacuation equip--raised standard of care
· Oversaw MEDEVAC msn; two severely wounded pediatric pts transported to Kabul Regional Medical Hospital--received en-route care
· Coordinated USAF CASF weekly training for Afghan medical peers; received real time training during ISAF AE missions
