12/29/2010 - SHINDAND, Afghanistan -- The following personnel were selected as the quarterly warriors of the month for the 838th Air Expeditionary Advisory Group:

Airman Warrior of the Month:
SRA David J. Gamez - Fire Protection Driver Operator
LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Only person responsible for hazardous materials response team; accounted for and tracked $87K inventory which enabled application of mission critical assets
· Mentored and trained new alarm room operator's, explained standard operating procedures and taught dispatch command and control, telecommunications became 100% mission ready
· Led the charge to vehicle rollover; triaged patients, up righted vehicle and mitigated oil leak and ensured scene safety

Non Commissioned Officer Warrior of the Month:

SSGT Edward V. Verlander - Fire Protection Station Captain
LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Stellar station chief, led eight firefighters, $4M worth in equipment and three facilities, protected 4K personal,348 buildings and 37 International Security Assistance Force aircraft
· Provided 6 hrs base security; ECP overwatch during heightened FP condition--4K ISAF personnel safeguarded
· Superb MSA pgm mngr; tracked inspection/readinesss of $220K in SCBA equipment--key to safety of 24 FF's

Senior Non Commissioned Officer Warrior of the Month:

MSGT PHILLIP A. ALLEN - Section Chief, Plans and Programs
LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Led Shindand navigational aid project, prepared for flight testing, $1.5 million system certified and the first US all weather runway in Regional Command-West
· Resolved medical clinic standby outages, designed radio relay plan with Fire Department, ensured Emergency Medical Service available 24/7 with no new equipment
· Base audio Subject Matter Expert, engineered sound for Comedy Tour the first USO tour and morale boosted to 2,500 Coalition Forces

Company Grade Officer Warrior of the Month:

Capt Kaitlin W. Kenny - Flight Commander of Operations
LEADERSHIP & JOB PERFORMANCE IN A DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT:
· Spearheaded Task Force Comanche migration, retooled 36 terminals with one thousand feet of fiber for the Tactical Operations Center which enabled more than 100 flights and helicopter operations for 700 troops
· Joined Running Club, logged over 100 miles and improved personal "run" times to enhanced her physical test score
· Led forward operating base humanitarian effort, planned outside the wire mission and organized joint team of 53 which delivered book bags to four thousand local youth
